Who we are
I thank the Lord first for always lifting me when I didn’t think I could make it one more day. I have been blessed to have this opportunity to teach others what I have learned from three extraordinary women.
First my mother, that I think of every time I get behind a sewing machine. She used to sew our clothes for school. My sisters and I were the only ones with slacks and matching jackets in elementary! Fabric was not as expensive and with a family of six I am sure it was cost effective to make our clothes. Due to my mom’s love of sewing I sell my fabric at a reduce cost, if possible. If I get a good deal on some fabric I pass it on to my customers. My mother passed away several years ago but I still miss her greatly. I wish she was here to see this little business I started.
Second my eldest sister Norma, that contributed to my love of being creative. I would come up with projects that “WE” could do, which meant she would do…but I would help with ironing, handing her the scissors and making jokes while we worked. She taught me to be patient and to take the time to measure and iron everything!
However, my love and knowledge of quilting came from a lady named Gail. She was there when I started my first project and years later I became a confident quilter! She taught me so much and I don’t think she knows the impact she had in my life and I will always be grateful to her.
I thank these ladies that were a big influence in my life. So as my son and I begin making memories of our own, I hope you guys will join us at Quilting Memories, where stitches become stories.
